The Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional Wrestling

The Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional WrestlingThe Squared Circle: Life, Death, and Professional Wrestling by David Shoemaker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Quick professional wrestling history lesson. Couple nuggets of information that were new to me, but then quite a few that have been proven untrue. An entertaining listen either way. Decent narration.

… And Get Over It!

Built a new bridge a couple of years ago down the street from me, and finally took a stroll to check it out. Pretty cool. Side note: Got a new camera, and am loving it so far.

The Big Reveal…

Have to admit, revealing Vanessa as Proteus to close out 2001 is pretty inspired. Writing these blogs as though everything is happening present day, it's definitely enough to keep me tuning in. Though I'm sort of contradicting the previous sentence, if memory serves, once the audience is made aware of Proteus' identity, the rails start to come off even quicker. Should be exciting to watch.

Erica makes a mysterious phone call, ordering someone to return to PV, and hinting that it has something to do with her trial. Spoiler alert, it's Kendall. Don't remember how everything plays out, but her return is sure to cause fireworks. Have a feeling it won't be all that long before Bianca and Kendall declare war. I guess we'll see. Getting back to Erica's trial for just one second, can it be over already? Even watching multiple episodes At a time, this storyline is moving slower than a disabled snail. Watching The Queen Of Pine Valley going gaga over someone so clearly beneath her isn't helping matters. Please, kill off Chris, and put me out of my misery.

Quick note. Marcy Walker and David Canary have amazing chemistry. I truly believe, if Liza hadn't left town, and been regrettably recast with Jamie Luner upon returning, Adam and Liza could have been an endgame couple. So disappointing.

Holy sh*t! What an incredible rollercoaster thrillride! Only regret is finishing it so quickly. Cannot wait to continue this twisted journey. Fantastic performance.

Amazing!

Eric got me a present while on vacation in Vermont. Isn't it incredible?! Did some research, and it's from the first national tour. What a treasure!

Good listen, with a great last minute twist, but meandered a little throughout. Good narration.

52!

Finally found a bootleg audio of the 2023 ART cast that I saw with Mrs. Cabral. Have been searching for years. So thrilled. My total Evita recordings is now 52! So crazy. So awesome. There are still a few that I would like to get my hands on, but I've put out feelers, and just have to be patient. Not my strong suit. Just realized something as I'm writing this. I will have 53 in August, as the official 2025 London revival cast is getting released. So cool. Love collecting things that mean a lot to me.

Don't usually care to celebrate the 4th, but Latisha asked me if I wanted to go watch the fireworks down by the pier, and we had a very good time.

Emotional…

Okay, y'all. You might think this is silly to post about, but here we go. Was just going through my Amazon library, and decided to delete things I don't use anymore. Stopped using my Kindle around 2020, but have held onto the books for some reason, even though I gave it away months ago. Looking through the books brought back so many incredible memories. The invention of the Kindle opened an entirely new world to me. Because of my disability, it is extremely difficult to keep a book open and turn pages. Always loved to read, but the amount of effort that went into enjoying a physical book just wasn't worth it. Needless to say, the Kindle changed my life, and I have become a voracious reader. I switched to audiobooks around 2020 because of the toll looking down at my Kindle took on my neck over the years. If it's possible, I'm enjoying reading even more now. It's become my absolute favorite thing to do. Anyway, went on quite the side quest there. The original point of this post is just to say that I am grateful for my reading evolution, will always be grateful to the Kindle, and got emotional removing all the digital books from my library. Can't believe the first one I ever bought was way back on January 6, 2009. Time sure does fly.

Olde Mistick Village/Foxwoods Birthday Celebration: June 29-30, 2026

Went to Foxwoods overnight for my birthday last month with Eric. Wanted to explore Connecticut a little bit before heading to the hotel, and happened across Olde Mistick Village. A beautiful, nostalgic time warp with vintage shops, incredible views, good food, and friendly people. Day was going swimmingly until Eric decided he wanted to run over his front, and lose a chunk of toenail. Don't know. Maybe it was a crazy fashion choice or something? Anyway, we made our way to the hotel so that he could sanitize, clean, and bandage his injury, and then got sucked into slots for a little while. We both left up, so that's definitely a win if you ask me. Good times! Great memories!

Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show that Defined a Television Era

Generation Friends: An Inside Look at the Show that Defined a Television EraGeneration Friends: An Inside Look at the Show that Defined a Television Era by Saul Austerlitz
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fascinating, and surprisingly honest. Clinical narration.

7/2/2026: Same feelings as above for the contents of the audiobook, but I would like to say that you can definitely tell that this was a passion project, in the most loving way. Also, I have to change my opinion about the narration. It is spirited at times, referential, sweet, and enthusiastic.

The Hate U Give

The Hate U GiveThe Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gut-wrenching. Profound. Immediate. Necessary.

7/1/2026: Still feel the same as I did above. Just hope one day it doesn't reflect society so well. One can dream.
