Can't Believe!

Going through my old posts recently, and realized I never shared my second time seeing Barbra live. I remember hearing she was going to be coming around a second time, and thinking I wasn't interested in going. Didn't want to risk not enjoying it as much, or being disappointed with her live vocals, as it had been ten years. Made peace with my decision, until practically everyone I knew told me that I would regret it if I didn't take this incredibly rare opportunity. Thank God I did! What an amazing, unforgettable experience. Vocals were wonderful, for the most part, song selection was good, and my friend that came with me really enjoyed the concert. Don't think it gets much better than that. Looking back, I don't know how I actually considered not going. Crazy!

Pure Imagination!

Video Credit: Amber Downing
Short video of Barbra singing Pure Imagination when I went to see her concert in Boston last summer. I've said this countless times already, but it just doesn't seem real. Never thought I would see her at all, never mind twice! Will be posting more from this unforgettable trip very soon, hopefully.

Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway

Barbra's new album is coming out on August 26th! This showcase of Broadway tunes has been hinted at, and much-anticipated for years. Let's hope it delivers! I think it will. Whenever Barbra sings songs from The Great White Way, magic happens! I'm not familiar with some of her duet partners, but I have faith in her choices. Heard At The Ballet just about twenty minutes ago, and am impressed. Justice was definitely done for one of my favorite theatre songs. If the others are as good, I wouldn't be surprised at yet another #1! Here's some info!

At The Ballet, from A Chorus Line, with Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley

Loving You, from Passion, with Patrick Wilson

Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me), from from The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd, with Anthony Newley

The Best Thing That Ever Has Happened, from Road Show, with Alec Baldwin
Any Moment Now, from an unproduced version of Smile, with Hugh Jackman

Anything You Can Do, from Annie Get Your Gun, with Melissa McCarthy

Pure Imagination, from the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (later adapted for the stage), with Seth MacFarlane

Take Me To the World, from Evening Primrose, with Antonio Banderas

I'll Be Seeing You/I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face, from Right This Way and My Fair Lady, with Chris Pine
Climb Ev'ry Mountain, from The Sound of Music, with Jamie Foxx

Back In The Studio!

It appears as though Barbra is at work on a new album! As of this post, we know she has recorded songs with Jamie Foxx, and Daisy Ridley. I don't know the consensus opinion, but I think another album of duets, which this looks as though it is shaping up to be, would be a mistake. I understand wanting to capitalize on the success of previous work, but think an offering so similar in nature would greatly diminish interest. Of course, I could be completely off the mark with my assumptions, and we could very well be looking at standard Streisand. Either way, I'm very happy something new is on the horizon.

AWESOME!

Another huge accomplishment for Barbra!  Partners is the 7th best-selling album of 2014!  856,000 copies!  The success of this album vindicates those of us who prize quality over spectacle.  Barbra Streisand continues to prove why she is the most successful female artist in music history!  May she never be surpassed!

Big News!

Couple of really big news items on the Streisand front today.  First, Partners has been nominated for the Best Traditional Pop Album Grammy Award!  Amazing to see this legendary artist recognized for this great work!  Last, but certainly not least in any way, Partners has just gone platinum in Australia!  Just so awesome!  I knew this album was going to be huge the first time I heard the leaked tracks.  So proud to call myself a fan!

I Can't Believe...

After almost twenty years of wishing and wanting, I finally have Barbra's autograph!  A little over a week ago, Shanon started saying how amazing the Christmas gift she got for me was. She dropped little hints here and there, but I couldn't connect the dots.  Too excited to wait, she brought it last night.  I honestly don't even know how I'm dictating this post, as I haven't picked my jaw off of the floor yet.  See for yourselves!  To thank someone for such an incredible gift seems inadequate, but I'd like to do that one more time.  Thank you, Shanon!  You'll never know what it means to me.

Gold!

Partners has been certified Gold!  This is the 52nd time in her legendary career that a project that Barbra has been a part of has received this honor.  Partners is a great album, and deserves all praise and recognition it receives.  Good going, Ms. Streisand!

Of Course!

As forecasted, Partners debuted in the top slot!  196,000 copies sold!  Just incredible!  Not only is Barbra the first woman in history to have a number one debut in each of the last six decades, but, she has padded her lead as the best selling female artist of all-time substantially.  As I said in my previous post on this subject, I'm so happy this album deserves its place.  Quite the accomplishment!  Congratulations, Barbra!

HISTORY!

Barbra Streisand continues to make music history!  Her newest album, Partners, is projected to debut at number one!  To do that, a record must sell 150,000 or more copies in the first week of release.  Numbers indicate 165,000-175,000!  How incredible is that!  Streisand is the only artist in history to have number one debuts in each of the past six decades!

As an aside, I had a feeling this would happen.  Went to several stores on release day, and each was sold out, with the album on backorder.  Just in case some of you may be wondering, I have listened, and do believe this offering deserves top spot.  I'm so proud of you, Barbra!  It's such an incredible honor to be able to say that my favorite artist is the best-selling woman in the history of music.  There will never be anyone better!  Ever!
