HUGE!

Schedule!  Schedule!  Schedule!  Changes!  Changes!  Changes!  Here's the biggest one yet!  Yesterday, Prospect Park announced a deal with the Oprah Winfrey Network to air the first forty episodes of All My Children and One Life To Live!  Beginning July 15th, the shows will run Monday-Thursday, with AMC at 1, and OLTL at 3.  If you notice, The Mighty O isn't running up against General Hospital.  Very smart move, me thinks.  While, as of now, the engagement is a 10 week limited run, if all goes well, I imagine a more permanent arrangement will be made.  If you've read this blog for any length of time, you know all this PP stuff has tested my sanity.  While this news in no way absolves them of their previous craziness, it's definitely a great move.

Exhausted!

Dixie got so much attention from everyone last night when she came to visit that she collapsed from exhaustion when we came upstairs.  A true attention hound!  So sweet!

Another Big Change!

I hate contradictions!  Remember when the number of episodes of All My Children and One Life To Live were cut to two weekly?  Prospect Park said the reason behind that decision was so that viewers did not have to binge, and weren't overwhelmed.  The people in charge sure don't get the concept of seeing something through.  In a press release yesterday, PP announced that, beginning July 1st, episodes of both shows will be released in one shot every Monday.  Their reason?  So that viewers will be given the opportunity to watch them all at once, if they so choose.  Wait a minute!  This makes absolutely no sense!  These idiots don't know which way is up!  If this were going to be the case anyway, why cut the number of episodes down?  Ridiculous!

Another thing.  I don't understand how people continue to defend these fools!  Yes, with a new venture, comes inevitable grooming pains.  To be expected.  My problem is that there seems to be absolutely no clear plan or direction.  How can you tell if something is working when you don't give it time to catch on?  Instant gratification is not an option here.  It worries me that panic and anxiety appear to be the main factors in decision making.  Shouldn't there have been a long-term plan in place?  Goals set, to be reached within a certain time frame?  Those two elements should have been among the first on the agenda to be hammered out.  How is it so obvious to everyone, except them?

Here's a great idea.  PP's next project should be a drama about the drama going on behind the scenes of these two shows!

Stunning!

Snapped this in the parking lot of Walgreens last night.

September 11th!

Ordered my tickets yesterday!  Will be my fourth time seeing the show!  Was so excited to surprise my mom with an early birthday present.  Is going to be the first time we've ever seen a professional production of any show together!  Add Tracie to the mix, and fun overload.  Cannot wait!

Disgusting!

Remember the rant I went on last week about Jade?  Be prepared for more of those!  To my shock and horror, he's in the top twenty.  How can this be?!  Even the show knows he's useless, because his lack of skill was the focus of the highlight package before his judgment.  Blueprint made it, too, but at least he has potential.  So You Think You Can Dance's integrity has taken a major hit with me.  Truly don't understand how this can be allowed!  Cannot wait until he's eliminated!  If America has any sense, it'll be in the first week of voting!  Will be the first one in line, jumping for joy!  What an utter disgrace!

Yes, yet another fish.  Meet Elliott.  Turns out, the last one wasn't a beta, but a guppy.  Didn't last long after I took the picture of him.  Must have been camera shy.  This guy looks healthy and strong.  Hopefully my luck will change.

Quote Of The Moment...

"Excellence needs very little dressing."

Unfair!

Just got done watching the Vegas callbacks, and am fuming!  The whole point of Vegas is to see if dancers can do all styles.  If you can't, you're sent home... usually.  Apparently, though, if your name is Jade, you get a pass.  Jade is an Animator, who failed miserably in at least two of the rounds.  For reasons I will never understand, the judges kept letting him "dance for his life."  When you get the opportunity to do that, you dance your own style.  Twice he did, and twice he survived.  I was literally screaming at my television.  Why was he given repeated chances, when far more talented dancers were cut?  The game of favorites should never be played by judges in a competition.  Opportunity is supposed to be fair, and equal.  I'm pissed, and can't imagine how the eliminated dancers felt when he kept sliding through.  Absolutely shocked at the lack of a level playing field.  If he makes it to the top twenty next week, I may just lose my mind!

Hilarious!

I've been trying to convince Jill to come see Evita with me in September.  When I ask her last night why she wasn't interested, she said, "Why would I want to go see a musical about a whore looking down on a bunch of lepers?"  Needless to say, I laughed so hard I almost pissed myself.  Typical snarky Jill!  Don't know where she gets this stuff!

Ramin Trip!

On May 22nd, Stephanie and I took a trip to Cambridge to see Ramin Karimloo perform in The Regattabar in The Charles Hotel.  Before the show, we toured Charles Square, to take in the sights and sounds.  I had never been in a haberdashery before!  So cool.  Outlandishly expensive, but awesome!  The concert was amazing!  Can't believe we were only two rows from the stage.  Weren't supposed to use flash to take pictures, and as we were the only ones to abide the rule, I wish we had.  Was an honor and privilege to experience such an amazing talent in person.  Ramin's voice is in a class by itself.  I truly believe he is the best male vocalist in the world today.  Timeless experience with a great friend.  I'm one lucky guy!

Drama, Drama, And More Drama!

Due to a dispute with the labor union, Prospect Park will begin their planned summer hiatus of All My Children, and One Life To Live earlier than expected.  The official statement:

“As a result of a dispute with the I.A.T.S.E., The OnLine Network is beginning a long-planned hiatus for both ‘All My Children’ and ‘One Life To Live’ tomorrow instead of June 17. The hiatus is scheduled to end on August 12 pending resolution of this labor issue. Right now we have 40 episodes of each show ready to post through September, and if we can resolve this issue by August, we can get back into the studio on time so audiences will enjoy uninterrupted postings of their favorite shows.

We believe we have met all contract requirements with I.A.T.S.E, and as an internet start-up, and per our contract with the I.A., we cannot afford, and our business model cannot sustain, traditional broadcast rates.

The writers, directors, actors and rest of crew have been supportive of the shows and our success. Both ‘One Life To Live’ and ‘All My Children’ consistently earn top rankings on both Hulu and iTunes since launch just over a month ago. The popularity of the shows is matched by the continued passion and excitement from the fans. We are committed to these shows, and to the nearly 300 jobs they produce, thus we are exploring every legal and logistical option to maintain our production schedule.”

This scares the shit out of me.  "A hiatus" has been known to become permanent in the blink of an eye.  Not to mention, there are also persistent rumors that PP is looking for a new home for these productions.  Do they really expect all involved to follow whatever they do blindly?  How many times are the poor cast and crew of AMC going to have to relocate?  If I were involved, I'd have no confidence whatsoever.  Say they move, and find out it's just as difficult somewhere else?  What then?  A traveling circus of angry soap stars?  What if the dispute isn't resolved in a timely manner, and production stops?  How long do they expect us to wait?  If it doesn't shake out exactly the way PP wants, are they going to just take their ball and go home?  Wouldn't surprise me.  Everyone involved must be in complete panic mode.  For the love of Sweet Baby Jesus, get it together!
