Kudos to WWE for allowing the Elimination Chamber matches to take up the majority of the show. I always appreciate longer matches that build to worthy ends. John Cena winning on the Raw side of things was entirely unexpected and unwonted. Just don't understand why he is continually shoved at us. He's been to the top of the mountain enough times. Would have been nice to see Kofi Kingston get a shot. Wait. Now that I think about it, Cena isn't champion. In a swerve at the end of the match, Vince comes out and orders him to defend his newly-won gold against Batista. John, who had just wrestled for over forty minutes, was no match for The Animal. While the match was amazing, I was disgusted with the outcome in both cases. I just can't... or more accurately don't want to see Big Dave headline Wrestlemania. I hope there's another surprise coming to turn it all around.
The Smackdown Elimination Chamber went pretty much the way I thought it would. Got to hand it to Tim though. He said that we would see Shawn Michaels at some point in the night, and he was absolutely right. I really like the way it all went down. Michaels costing Undertaker the championship was the perfect catalyst for a Mania rematch. I felt bad for Tim, having to sit through a Taker loss and all, but can't wait to see what is sure to be an instant classic.
There were other matches on the show, but nothing really worth spending time writing about. The Chamber matches were amazing! Good, solid show.
