Charles Pratt Jr. AMC's Savior?

Okay, people, so Charles Pratt's writing made its much talked about debut on All My Children yesterday. Were there any notable changes this quickly? Well, in my opinion, it's definitely too soon to tell. Although, I must say, the dialogue seemed a little tighter. I hope that wasn't just me desperate to see improvement.

We've gotten lots of tidbits from Mr. Pratt himself and other sources about his vision for the show. From what I've read and heard, things look to be quite promising. Turning Fusion Cosmetics into a real business, bringing Adam and Erica back front burner, giving Carmen permanent residents in Pine Valley, a natural disaster with far-reaching ramifications, and the return of uber-evil Dr. David Hayward are only a few of the things said to be coming.

Unfortunately, many people are not as enthusiastic about the changeover as I am. Apparently, when it comes to Charles Pratt Jr., there are two camps. The first of which avidly praises his work and cites his involvement with hit shows like Ugly Betty, General Hospital, and Santa Barbara as a great sign. The other, however, has a vastly different take. Loyal fans of Santa Barbara swear that its fall from grace started immediately after he assumed head-writing duties. Similarly, the General Hospital fanbase blames him for the much-reviled mob element he helped introduce. Being unfamiliar with the previous work in his daytime portfolio, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Will he help my beloved show return to its former glory or sink it to new depths? My choice would be the first... but only time will tell.
