Wishlist For Pine Valley In '09

My original intent with this post was to do a Best And Worst Of 2008 retrospective. One glaring problem, I realized there was hardly enough positive to balance the negative out. That thought shot to hell, I decided to share my wishes for All My Children in the new year. The following are in no particular order.

That Brian Frons stop micro-managing AMC. Why must he have his little dirty fingerprints on every aspect of this show? While I know he's not entirely to blame for the abysmal shape All My Children is in, I can't help but think we may see a slight improvement if he let everyone do their job without interfering.

That Charles Pratt, Jr. respect and use the rich, amazing history of my beloved show. There's no telling how many lost viewers would return if they saw the history they remember being properly drawn on. Hell, the simple mention of a name from the past would be nice every once in a while. Just throw us a bone for goodness sake.

That the show refocus on veterans and core families. I've never understood why new characters are introduced and given airtime when ones that already exist aren't used properly or to full potential. It's time to stop treating vets like nostalgic props and give them the respect they deserve.

That someone new take over executive producing duties. The dingbat we have now doesn't even seem to care that this show is sinking faster than The Titanic. How she's kept working this long I'll never know.

That a select few iconic characters return in an effort to boost ratings and rectify horrible mistakes. If reintroduced and written effectively, Brooke and Dixie could generate much-needed interest and viewership. Come on, people. We've been screaming for these two returns so long that we're going to cause our vocal cords irreparable damage. Cut us a break already.

Last, but certainly not least, fresh blood on the writing staff. It's impossible to say just how much our little show would benefit from new ideas. You never know the magic that could come from giving an eager young writer his or her chance to run with the ball. I believe a new generation of passionate, educated, forward-thinking writers could mean the salvation of daytime. There's nothing without hope, right?

Excuses!

I am so beyond tired of excuses! People who make them up should at least take the time to make sure they're realistic. Everyday a different ridiculous justification for something that they're not supposed to do. If you're smart enough to admit that there are certain issues you need to address in your daily life, (such as making an effort to be on time more), designate time to work on them. I don't buy the "it is how it is" approach. I'm reaching the end of my rope. Heads are going to start rolling!

Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!

I don't know how much more I can take. Example. Everyone knows that Greenlee will bid farewell to Pine Valley in the next few weeks. When the exit was first announced, speculation began swirling that Leo would resurface in some form to help usher his true love off canvas. Now, with the departure fast approaching, it's looking more and more likely that Greenlee will suffer a fate eerily similar to her first husband. I have a question. Why can't characters ever make believable exits? Couldn't it be something as simple as Greenlee getting the opportunity to expand Fusion to another part of the country and leaving to make sure everything gets up and running smoothly? Why all the unnecessary rehash of history? Can someone please come up with an original idea?

I reported a couple of weeks back that Elizabeth Rodriguez was returning to All My Children as a contract player. Now, however, word is quickly spreading that the actress has been released before she even reappears. Is this to be believed? If so, yet another question arises. What would be the point of offering a contract in the first place? Personally, this is one rumor I hope is absolutely untrue. We need a character like Carmen to spice things up around our desperately boring valley.

How close was AMC to getting canceled earlier this year? According to industry insiders, the axe came dangerously close to falling on several occasions. That's all I have to say about that. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry. Life without Pine Valley is one I hope I never see.

Carlivati, Can You Hear Me?

For just about a year and a half now, I've been hearing soap fans, and industry people alike sing the praises of One Life To Live. Apparently, headwriter Ron Carlivati and executive producer Frank Valentini are miracle workers. In an age where the general consensus is that daytime dramas are on life support, the aforementioned gentleman have made their show must-see. Not expecting much, I decided to tune in and see for myself if the seemingly endless parade of accolades was deserved. One episode was all it took to make a believer out of me. Intense, sharp, intelligent dialogue, first-rate acting, interwoven, near-flawlessly crafted story, and lush sets make the hour set aside to visit Llanview a feast for the senses.

Carlivati and company show a great example of how important it is to have passion for your dreams and joy in your profession. These two men, along with a handful of others, if given the reins to do what they do best, could save daytime.

Merry Christmas!

Hope everyone has a fabulous holiday and cherishes the time spent family and friends. May Santa grant every wish you may have. Let us not forget the true meaning of Christmas however. Happy holidays to all.

Finally, Something Worth Watching!

I have to hand it to Raw this week, almost every aspect of the show was enjoyable. Such a refreshing change from the crap that's been forced down our throats for the past few months. The Race To The Rumble not going the predictable, stale route was a welcome surprise. Jericho and Punk had a fantastic match from bell to bell. Kofi Kingston is starting to win me over with the promise of greatness I see. But, most of all, it was incredible to see Trish in the ring again, looking as if she never left. I could do without the whole Michaels JBL ridiculousness, but nothing is perfect. Kudos to Randy Orton for being one of the best, most convincing heels today. Here's hoping WWE remains on track in 2009.

They Said It Couldn't Be Done...

As most of you who read this blog know, I'm a huge fan of The Pine Valley Podcast. I have all available episodes of the show downloaded to my Ipod. Unfortunately, not all are available for download through Itunes. The episodes downloaded from the website are not in podcast format and appear in the music directory, as opposed to the podcast directory. I called Apple to see if there was a way to make it appear where it should. They told me there wasn't. They were wrong. I downloaded a program to assist in the tedious process of switching the files to the proper directory and everything is good now. Don't always believe someone when they say something can't be done. Exhaust all options before giving up. I'm glad I did.

Storrn Watch!

Okay, so we're supposedly getting a giant storm this weekend. I've heard up to sixteen inches. I've already taken the necessary precautions and will have a house guest for the night just in case the roads are too treacherous for driving. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but then realized it was my only choice in the matter. We'll make it fun with movies, music and popcorn. I hope everyone stays safe and warm.

New Ipod!

Yesterday, my friend Tess asked if I'd be interested in trading my GPS for her 80 gig Ipod. After checking with my mom (because she's the one who bought me the GPS and I didn't want to offend her), the trade was made. I'm so happy. Now I can finally have one Ipod for podcasts, and one for music. I transferred all my music from one to the other yesterday, and now I'm downloading all the podcasts. Now I can have a complete collection of Daytime Confidential, Between The Ropes, and The Pine Valley Podcast. Oh happy day!

Gingerbread House Goodness!

A while back, I picked up a gingerbread house kit on the cheap. It sat unmade for weeks until the idea to make it with the nephews was proposed. Harry was so excited to build the "gingerbread cookie house" that I couldn't help but laugh. It was great fun and when you include Bob The Builder and a takeout lunch, nothing's better. Here's the end result.

Time To Breathe...

The semester is officially over. I can finally take a deep breath. No more nightmares about the physical structure of Eurasia. Thank God!

Rodriguez Inks Deal!

I'm doing the happy dance! Word is making the rounds that Elizabeth Rodriguez has signed on the dotted line with AMC. Apparently, much-missed Carmen will resurface in the first week of January, just in time for All My Children to celebrate its 39th anniversary. Though the specifics of the deal are unknown at this time, it is believed to be long-term. Hopefully, Carmen will finally be fleshed out and Ms. Rodriguez will be given a respectable storyline worthy of her great talent.

Rent At Durfee...

I was delighted when my friend Kyle asked me to join him in seeing the opening night of Rent at Durfee High School. Drawing on a history of miserable school productions, I went in assuming the worst. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. The set was beautifully done and could easily rival a professional production, the students fit their roles nicely, and acting and voices were fairly convincing. I had to remind myself several times that the show was not able to be fully explored due to school restriction. That aside, it was an enjoyable experience with a great effort put forth by all. My favorite part of the night--getting to spend time with a good friend and catch up.

Holiday Spirits

I was introduced to Straight No Chaser entirely by accident earlier this week while visiting my sister's blog. Their comic version of The Twelve Days Of Christmas had me in stitches. More than the comedy however, I was amazed at how incredible they sounded. It's difficult to even put into words how beautiful their voices are. I was lucky enough to find a copy of their new release Holiday Spirits and can't say enough good about it. Every song is sung perfectly. It sounds like there's a party in your speakers with every track. It's absolutely impossible to not get caught up and have fun while listening. Holiday Spirits is an instant classic! You'd be hard-pressed to find a better holiday album anywhere! Flawless! A must own!

Nice Visit...

My sister came over yesterday to help me pick out my classes for next semester and make my schedule. She was nice enough to bring lunch. I challenge anyone reading this to find a more enjoyable lunch than a spicy linguiça roll from Carmen's Bakery. Absolute heaven! It took a while, but I finally decided to take Introduction To Algebra and Child Development. There were a couple of writing courses offered that sounded interesting but I didn't want to get too bogged down with all difficult classes. Can't wait till this semester is done and I can give my brain a break before taking on something new. Quick thanks to my sister for helping and for taking an awesome picture of my Christmas tree. I'll post later for everyone to see.

Christmas Shopping Done!

I finally finished yesterday. It's nice to not have to worry until the last minute like I did last year. I hope everyone likes what they get. Wish things weren't so expensive so I could do more. Happy I had the money to pick a name off the giving tree and contribute. I just realized I'm rambling. That's all for now.

A Whale Of A Good Time!

Sunday was a nice, relaxing day at the farm. Watching the nephews play and get into everything is always the highlight of my week. Harry has recently discovered that he can ride Uncle Regis' "loader" and is loving it. It's nice that I can keep one of the two little monsters occupied and be an extra pair of eyes. Harry was very excited to eat the Nemo snacks I got for William and he to share. A nice visit from Alissa and Landon was the perfect end to a wonderful day.

Cutting Room Floor?

I've noticed something of late. All My Children is neglecting to show us important moments. Example. Instead of seeing a confrontation between Erica and Annie, we're shown an Erica being rushed into emergency surgery. Instead of joining the tale of Bianca and Reese's romance from the outset and investing in the two as a couple, we're supposed to swallow them being soulmates without evidence. How can the idiots in charge not see that the missing storytelling makes much more interesting television then what's on screen? Neglecting to include pivotal moments of storyline advancement is stupidity at its worst. Unforgivable mistakes like the ones listed above would have never slipped past Agnes Nixon and her team. Oh, how I long for the good old days.

Quote Of The Moment...

"Don't go making all these promises you know you cannot keep. There's a time to play the king and a time to be a thief. If you're making all these promises you know you cannot keep, you know time will be the thief and your fallen king will end up alone."
Promises-Savage Garden

Down To The Wire...

The semester is done in a little over a week. Time for stress to start settling in. I have no idea how I'm going to finish five quizzes, an hour exam, and a final. Maybe if I just keep telling myself that it will be over before I know it my head won't explode. Send positive thoughts and good luck wishes my way.

Patience Wearing Thin...

Okay, so this may have been cute a year ago when she was tiny and couldn't do much damage. This year is a completely different story. In her quest to suck up all the heat the tree holds because of the lights, she's busted almost every ornament I own. The only ones unscathed thus far are those made of paper. I can't even look at her without getting angry. It's pretty sad when you can't fully enjoy your favorite time of year because of a cat.

Music Music Music

John Barrowman's latest offering, Music Music Music is a mixed bag. Thankfully, vocals are strong throughout. My biggest problem with this album lies in song selection. As is the case with every other solo effort in Mr. Barrowman's catalog of releases, hardly any original material is present. There are only so many times one can listen to a newly-orchestrated version of I Am What I Am. Is an amazing voice enough to go out and purchase an album consisting mostly of retreads? This one is definitely for hardcore fans only.

Rockin' The Do!

Okay, so maybe there's not much of a do to rock. I figured this look would be a nice early Christmas present for my mom. The mohawk is officially on hiatus. It was time for a change.

Debt Free!

The day has finally come. No more credit card bill. It took a long time, but it definitely feels good. I officially own everything in my apartment! I'm actually contemplating cutting up the card all together. Haven't quite decided. I'll be happy to start living a little easier now. No more foolish, unnecessary purchases. Life is good!

Gorgeous!

There are few animals in the world as beautiful as this cat. He is wonderfully sweet and gentle with everyone. It makes me happy to know he brings my mom such joy. I wish I could borrow him for a couple of days to come and teach my devil cat how to behave properly.

Still In A Turkey Haze...

Thanksgiving got off to a wonderful start with my two beautiful nephews. William was paying more attention to me then usual... which I loved. I feel so lucky to have gotten this wonderful picture. Have you ever seen more beautiful eyes? He's going to have to beat the ladies off with a stick.

Harry was so excited to help his Vo put the finishing touch on dinner. He devoured an entire plate of pickles and olives without even thinking twice. Boy definitely has a healthy appetite. I can just imagine how much food he gobbled throughout the day.

Great food, wonderful company, reflection, thanks, and laughs. A great day was had by all.

Lance And Lacey Robbed!

Okay, so I originally tuned into Dancing With The Stars this season to see how well Susan Lucci would fair. Unfortunately, she failed to live up to my expectations and hopes. It's a good thing I found myself falling in love with another couple. Lance Bass and Lacey Schwimmer were stealing my heart with each performance. Each week the duo noticeably improved. The energy they had and attention they commanded was unrivalled. Going into the finale, I was sure the two remaining couples would be Brooke and Derek and Lance and Lacey. It became obvious after the judges final scores that Brooke and Derek were going to be awarded top prize. I took comfort in the fact that Lance and Lacey would surely secure second place. My jaw hit the floor when Warren and Kym took the honor and Lance and Lacey fell to third place. It is my humble opinion that no one in the competition this year worked harder than Lance Bass. If I were awarding the trophy, he definitely would have been crowned champion.

Happy Thanksgiving!

These two are just the cutest little couple. I wonder how long they've been together? Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Thank You!

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge great work. Melissa Claire Egan as Annie Novak McDermott Lavery is inspired! This actress and character are the only enjoyable aspect of AMC right now. While crazy Annie may seem over-the-top at times, Ms. Egan possesses the amazing ability to turn shit into gold effortlessly. I hope these hack writers find a way to keep MCE and Annie around forever!

Movie Star Kitten...

I love this shot. Had to edit it down but I think it looks good. She looks like she's waiting for Mr. DeMille to take a closeup.

Disappointing Mishmash...

I couldn't even make it through Raw this week. Everything from the way the show started to storyline progression seemed strange. Was all excited to get Survivor Series Sunday... until I saw the complete lineup. Honestly, there isn't a single match I'm interested in. Whose bright idea was it to mix heels and faces in the traditional elimination matches? This is ridiculous. It seems as though the creative team got bored halfway through planning this show. My advice to anyone mulling this purchase, just wipe your ass with the forty bucks and save yourself the agony of watching. Total disappointment!

MEM Or NWO?

So, there's a new heel faction in TNA. The Main Event Mafia is made up of a bunch of veterans looking for respect. I'll admit, at first glance, the assembled team seemed rather impressive. Further inspection made me realize that most of them are way past their prime and doing whatever they can to hold on to their perceived spot. Sting has been nothing but useless since setting foot in TNA. Kevin Nash has never been worthy of the praise and pushes he's gotten. Kurt Angle is ridiculously overhyped and hasn't delivered in any way. Booker T is flatout lame. Scott Steiner is not even worth a second glance.

Their opposition consist of "young up-and-comers" trying to advance in a company that doesn't encourage it. Maybe I'd be more enthused if the scenario wasn't so familiar. This isn't 1996. Oh, and can someone please tell me why the group we're supposed to be behind is constantly made out to look like the bad side of a squash match? It's impossible to get into something when you're led to believe the opposing team are jobbers. Vince Russo should never be allowed near wrestling again.

Meet Rupert...

Isn't he adorable? My cousin Jill decided to give him a home. I would have taken him if I were allowed. I think the name fits him perfectly.

2009, The Year Of Streisand?

Not long ago, I reported that Barbra is in the studio recording a new album. Upon further digging, I found out that fans should expect far more than an album in the coming year. Yentl will finally see life on DVD in February. Barbra seems set to reprise her role of Roz Focker in the upcoming Meet The Little Focker, to be released holiday 2009. A box set of all of Streisand's concerts, which will include the previously unreleased Live In Concert-2006 and the DVD debut of the Anaheim version of The Concert is supposedly on tap as well. As if that weren't enough, rumors of a concert tour have begun swirling. 2009 may very well end up being the year of Streisand.

Grass Always Greener?

I've been doing some research lately and it seems very few people are happy with the current direction of All My Children. This got me thinking. For many years, under head writer Megan McTavish, fans complained the show was too dark, serious, and uneven. Many people assumed that a change in power and vision could only mean an upward climb. Barbara Essenstein and James Harmon Brown were next. Would they be able to undo the considerable amount of damage done under the previous regime? Their track record wasn't exactly stellar. They were crafting stories for Port Charles when it was canceled. Many Guiding Light fans claim the duo responsible for one of the worst periods in its history. Initially, their AMC tenure seemed promising, with tighter stories, more diverse character interaction, and better dialogue. However, as time passed, little changed. Inability to write engrossing storylines, or create three dimensional characters were just a few issues that had people wishing Essenstein and Brown suffer the same fate as their predecessor.

Wishes were granted when it was announced that Charles Pratt Jr. would try his hand at the mess. While he is receiving a more favorable reaction then others on the whole, there are things being done that are downright baffling. Can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to emotionally invest in an actor, character, or story when I know from the start its only short-term? Signing high-profile actors to day-player roles is utterly pointless. You know it's bad when a show you love more than just about anything is only being watched out of habit. Another thing, supposedly devastating disasters don't mean anything without far-reaching consequences. It's not all supposed to run together in a big blur.

While comparing the aforementioned writers, I realized something. As loud as we all screamed for Ms. McTavish's head on a platter, she's the only one who made me feel something. Essenstein, Brown, and Pratt have been unable to accomplish that goal. One should always way the pros and cons of a situation as precisely as possible. Feeling indifferent is the worst thing that can happen. I've almost reached that point. Remember, though it may appear to be, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Streisand Recording New Album!

Extra, extra! Barbra Streisand has commenced work on a new album. During a recent interview, Streisand said that her latest effort will be infused with sounds of jazz and blues. Produced by Diana Krall, the album is expected to hit shelves in early to mid February.

Check out my new ride! I was shocked when the 'rents gave me this wonderful gift. I'm riding in style now, and couldn't be happier!

Lounging Around...

She has such a hard life. I don't know how she makes it through.

Heroism...

First things first. Is it me, or did Krystal and JR seem almost entirely unmoved by Babe's death? Krystal managed to squeeze out a single tear at the service. That was it. Don't even get me started on everyone kissing a corpse. Disgusting! David returns, hurling accusations at anyone in his line of vision. Though it's early in the game, I'll admit to liking the direction David seems to be headed. Suing for sole custody of Little Adam is brilliant. Sure, David has committed his fair share of crimes. If someone were to take the time and compare records side by side, it's my bet JR would leave David looking like Santa.. If all goes according to plan for Dr. Destruction, JR's world is going to explode. I love it!

Ryan and Annie hatch a brilliant plan to rescue Emma themselves. The kidnapper demands ten million, of which Greenlee gives the majority. It's funny how Annie still insists on ripping Greens at every turn. Annie decides to go off alone to deliver the ransom and gets shot for her troubles. All this drama and Emma is no closer to being found. Wake me when it's over.

Rebecca arrives to take Natalia home. The initial meeting between Rebecca and Angie was a bit of a letdown. Angie is way too calm and understanding for my taste. It's also a little strange that the two of them are so tolerant of one another. Natalia and Frankie are the only ones putting the blame where it belongs, squarely on Jesse's shoulders.

Taylor is left unable to walk after her little tumble. I'm so glad she told Zach where to go because no one else seems to have the balls. Jake is going to assist in Taylor's rehabilitation and fall in love in the process. My heart goes out to Amanda. Constantly being unlucky in love must really chip away at your self esteem. I hope she wises up quick before she falls for David.

Bianca and Reese are sweet. Their love was obvious as Reese proposed. While the odds of them actually making it to the altar are slim, I hope they're happy as long as possible.

Halloween '08...

Happy belated Halloween, everyone! The farm was hoppin' this year. My sister was nice enough to come pick me up. Unfortunately, since I was without a wheelchair, I spent the evening unable to move. With an abundance of adorable surrounding me, it really didn't matter. Harry wore his beloved monkey costume, while William was the most adorable bee I've ever seen. A few visitors popped in throughout the evening with great costumes. My nephew Connor was cute beyond words in his little turkey ensemble. My cousin Erin and her husband stopped by for a quick hello with their beautiful kids. I usually don't enjoy Halloween but this was definitely a good time. If you're wondering why there aren't any pictures, apparently my camera decided to be stupid and not save them. Oh, well. There's always next year.

Guilt...

A couple of weeks ago, I got a ride to my parent's house from a friend. On the way, I realized Mariah Carey's smash-hit album The Emancipation Of Mimi was blaring out of the sound system. Before I knew what was happening, I found myself right back in the middle of that horrible day receiving the news. "He can't be dead." I was repeating this over and over in a state of utter numbness. Moments earlier, my brother had called to tell us. Not wanting to believe it to be true, we contacted his family immediately, hoping with everything in us that it was some terrible mistake. Unfortunately, the worst was confirmed. This was absolutely insane. Not an hour before, I was so excited to listen to the new Mariah Carey release that my mother had picked up for me.

Now, sitting there reeling and unable to speak, the unopened CD caught my eye. I was overwhelmed with a feeling of disgust at the site of it. Some time much later, I remember thinking that a CD was a strange thing to focus my anger on. I promptly threw the CD away, not being able to make it through the first song. The next couple of days and weeks ran together in a pool of sadness. Losing someone who you feel is responsible for helping shape you into the person you are is unfathomable. I will always regret not seeing him as often as I would have liked in those last few years. I wish I could turn the clock back...

Reality snapped back into focus as we pulled up the long driveway to the farm. The few tears on my face were swept away before questions were hurled my way. At several points throughout the day, an idea kept recurring. If I borrowed the CD and was able to make it through without breaking, perhaps some of the guilt I felt about the possibility of feeling joy, (which didn't happen), on such a horrible day would disappear. The logic may not have made sense to other people had I spoke it allowed, but it did to me.

I haven't yet been able to listen without those feelings of guilt and anger creeping back in. Hell, I haven't even made it halfway through. Maybe I never will.

I can't wait for the day when we meet again and can listen and laugh together. All will be as it should then...

Quote Of The Moment...

"With all there is, why settle for just a piece of sky?"

Zelda Silliness!

Just when I think she's as odd as she can get, she does something like this. How cool would it be if I could teach her for real? Okay, maybe not cool, but definitely more sanitary.

I'm Confused...

What's the point of tornadoes ripping through Pine Valley if nothing really changes? I asked myself this question several times this week while watching. Aside from the inconsequential death of Babe, nothing substantial has happened. People claim that this is Charles Pratt's way of trimming the cast of excess fat and restructuring the show. I don't see it. Forgive me, but an influx of new characters and actors doesn't seem necessary or productive. If a new vision is indeed what's on tap, changes must be made behind the scenes before anything of note can be seen on screen. My apologies for being so angry. Does anyone else feel this way? I'll be better next time.

Customer Service?

What happened to "the customer is always right?" It's a sad day when you can't even get help from someone to correct a mistake THEY made. I've been waiting for over two weeks to get my Blu-ray player back, just to find out the wrong information was taken. I never knew something as easy as taking down the right address could lead to so many problems. My player is supposed to be here tomorrow, and it's being shipped somewhere that doesn't exist because of incompetence. Morons!

Di Henry Sighting!

Daytime newcomer Heather Kenzie will assume the role of Di Henry for a two day stint beginning November 14th.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

How?

Help me understand something. How can people who are supposed to love and support AMC be so negative. I just don't get the point of passing judgment on things that haven't even gotten off the ground. Sure, a storyline may seem ridiculous when spoilers are first leaked. That said, we won't know how we really feel until the ball gets rolling. A constant negative vibe and personal attacks have led me to leave certain "fan communities." People take everything way too seriously and lose sight of the fact that it's all meant to be entertainment. I'm all for healthy debate and passionate views and opinions. But, please remember, at the end of the day, it's all make believe.

Tornadoes, Tornadoes Everywhere!

Okay, so unless you've been living under a rock, you know Pine Valley has been leveled by tornadoes. I have to say, the promos were a little misleading as things didn't start happening until Friday. Once the ball started rolling though, absolutely amazing.

Zach goes out to get smore necessities for Kendall and the kids and is the first victim. The special effects department did an outstanding job. Zach's car gets sucked up in the twister and thrown violently, landing next to exposed power lines. Annie, who has happened upon him while frantically searching for a missing Emma, attempts to help free him without success. Zach insists that Annie resume her search and eventually escapes. The week ends with Zach searching through the rubble of his devastated cottage for the other members of the Slater family. Finding Spike and Ian miraculously unharmed, he turns his attention to locating Kendall and happens upon an unconscious Bianca. Where's Kendall? Is she okay? Tune into next week's can't-miss shows.

Over at the comeback, Babe and JR are saying an unofficial I Do. Just as Jesse is about to pronounce them man and wife, tornado number two destroys the bar. Jesse, Angie, Randi, and Krystal rush to save Babe and Little Adam who are trapped under fallen debris. The only thing preventing Babe from bleeding out from the injuries she sustained is the pressure from the board that she and Little Adam are under. She pleads with JR to save their son, no matter the consequences. At least she will have died a hero.

Adam and Erica are trapped together in the tunnels of the mansion and can't get out. Wonder what's going to happen there? Ryan and Greenlee are keeping each other company after a near-death experience. Shouldn't he be searching for his daughter instead of hoping to score? Priorities!

The carnage is just beginning and I can't wait to see every moment. Will the disaster boost ratings at all? If so, will they sustain? Praying to the soap gods..

Sassy Cat!

Took this yesterday, and couldn't resist showing everyone. I don't know why she's obsessed with sticking her tongue out at me. Adorable!

Stupid Back!

I can't take it anymore. Why do I have the back of a ninety year old man? It sucks. I'm growing really tired of midnight trips to the emergency room. Yes, I know. The majority of my symptoms are preventable with daily exercise and correct posture. Can't a guy just complain once in a while? :)

Minshew, Kendall Staying!

Kendall fans rejoice! Alicia Minshew has inked a new deal with All My Children. There is one small catch, however. Minshew will take a well deserved four month hiatus. Don't fret, accommodations have been made assuring that Kendall will be seen in her absence. Though details of the new contract are unknown, execs promise, "Kendall will remain in Pine Valley for some time to come."

Four Months?

Everyone knows by now that Bianca is returning to Pine Valley this week. The question as to how long her stay would be has been answered. It appears as though our beloved Binks will make a four month visit. I don't know exactly how to feel about this. I was under the impression that this return engagement was a long term one. As with previous visits, certain questions are raised. How are we, as fans, supposed to become emotionally invested in something set to end so quickly? With all the storyline rumors floating around the Internet, I'm not sure what to believe. If Bianca is indeed pregnant, will she carry the child to term? What exactly is the point of another child, assuming he or she leaves with Bianca? I'm more than a little skeptical about all of it. At least the amazingly talented Eden Riegel will be back on my screen.

Budig Out At AMC... Again!

You heard right, folks! Rebecca Budig will bid adieu to Pine Valley once again. A confirmed exit date or reason is yet to be given. No word on whether or not the role of Greenlee will be recast. Personally, I think I know the perfect actress to assume the role. :)

Eileen Herlie Passes...

Eileen Herlie, best known to daytime fans as Myrtle Fargate has passed, due to complications with pneumonia. She was 90. Myrtle and Eileen will forever be remembered with the utmost love and respect.

Jesus Christ Superstar: 1996 London Studio Cast

Without a doubt, this is THE DEFINITIVE SUPERSTAR! Every performance is spot-on flawless. There are two major differences between this recording and others I've heard, emotion and voice. Everytime I listen, I'm amazed at how raw and real it all seems. This recording is one of the few that makes you truly believe their interpretation of the material could have actually happened.

Every member of the cast has an amazing voice. I simply cannot imagine anyone else in the three leads. Zubin Varla as Judas Iscariot is one of the most brilliant casting choices ever. Likewise, Steve Balsamo as Jesus is simply inspiring. These two actors have such a strong sense of the historical figures they're portraying that it borders on creepy. It's wonderful! Joanna Ampil's Mary Magdalene comes across as frail, weak, and unsure. I can't help but think of this as a deliberate choice. This production is clearly about the two male leads and Ampil does her best to shine the spotlight on them. Kudos to Alice Cooper for making King Herod deliciously scary.

This recording is the best you'll find for this groundbreaking rock opera. One listen is all it will take to make it a favorite. No other production comes close!

Much Of The Same...

A short entry this week as nothing much of interest happened. The mystery woman from Jesse's past showed up at his door for a face to face. I've never seen someone scramble so quickly to cover their ass. At this point, I think it's safe to assume we're dealing with a long-lost daughter. We shall see...

The sextet continued their domination of the show this week. Unfortunately, there aren't really any new developments to report. Though, I must say, I admire Greenlee's commitment to her marriage. I just wonder how long it will last. Kendall's obsession with Ryan is a giant wedge coming between her and Zach. If it were me, I'd be just about done sacrificing my relationship at Ryan's alter. A piece of advice, Zach. Chalk it all up as a loss and run. I bet Myrtle would welcome you with open arms...

Adam and Erica continue their amusing cat and mouse game. I have a strange feeling, when all is said and done, Ms. Kane will come out smelling of roses and stronger than ever. All will be as it should.

Annie thinks someone is stalking her, but has no proof. Everyone continues to doubt her sanity. See, I told you, a slow week.

Setting The Record Straight!

Okay, so we've all heard that people think Puff The Magic Dragon is about smoking pot. I've heard this ridiculousness for years and it drives me crazy. Anyone whose ever heard the song and truly listened to the words and message knows that it's about children growing up. Puff represents the innocence of childhood imagination. As we grow into adults, more often than not, imagination is replaced with responsibility and reasoning. This is seen at the end of the song when Jackie no longer comes to play. Don't believe me, listen again.

Go ahead, say it. This is a weird topic to be posting about. I agree. Sometimes I just like to analyze things.

Lack Of Originality...

I watched Impact this week to see the much-touted debut of Mick Foley. To say I was disappointed would be the understatement of the year. the most glaring problem was that his introduction to the TNA audience was used as a vehicle to get Kurt Angle over as a heel. Many would argue this has already been done, but I disagree. Why Mick was immediately thrust center story is beyond me. I think he would have been much more effective if brought into the fold slowly. I should think the people in charge would be familiar with the concept of a slow build. Tell me, why has the role of a Special Enforcer become this company's go-to way of bringing new talent in? Nothing is ever done in moderation. Nothing ever changes. It saddens me to think of the high probability that a legend like Mick Foley won't be used properly or to full potential.

Prank Calls...

I don't know why people think they're so funny. Have been getting them quite a bit lately, and am really annoyed. Got one about ten minutes ago from someone claiming to be an old friend from high school. Knew my name, the right school, what shop I had been in. Asked me if I wanted to go to lunch at Applebee's. Honestly, at tha point, not remembering who he was, I was getting a little freaked out. I was about to politely decline when I heard the voice say to someone "See, I told you he was fucking retarded." After that, a laugh and a hang up. Just plain strange.

Perfection!

Maria Kanellis is the latest WWE diva chosen to be a Playboy covergirl. I think she is the most beautiful woman on the planet. Absolutely flawless!

Everything Is Under Control...

I panicked this morning when I went to check my email and discovered my Internet down. After unsuccessfully trying to fix it myself, I called Comcast and they said they weren't going to be able to send somebody out until tomorrow. For someone as dependent on a computer as I am, that wasn't good news. Thankfully, when Tess came for lunch, she located the reset button on the modem, and everything seems to be in working order. Crisis averted! :)

Oh, The Memories!

While flipping through my computer CD case today, I was ecstatic to find an old gem. Soap Opera Stuff was there staring me in the face and I couldn't resist putting it in the machine to see what nostalgia it held. Before long, I was grinning from ear to ear as I rediscovered forgotten treasures. Classic video clips from All My Children and Passions delighted my senses. While watching, I found myself wishing for the good old days of daytime television. It's always nice to relive wonderful memories.

Someone's In The Kitchen...

Wagonwheel pasta, mayonnaise, feta cheese, green olives, salt, garlic, pepper, and bacon.
I had nothing made for lunch today, so Tess and I created a little something. It's good to be imaginative once in a while. We call the outcome Feta Bacon Pasta Salad.

The Sweetest Sound...

"Ryan Lavery, you're under arrest!" Is that not the coolest phrase ever? When I heard Jesse say it, I couldn't contain my joy. Who the hell does Ryan think he is trying to keep Annie from Emma. I understand him being upset that there was a gun in his daughter's room, but a plausible explanation was given and the mistake rectified. Taking a sleeping child from her bed and bolting for the door is more than a little extreme. Seriously, does Ryan really think Annie would ever do anything to put Emma in danger? I don't think a custody battle is the way to go just to prove manliness. Makes me so angry I could scream.

I'm incensed with Kendall. Her worship of all that is Ryan is out of control. As much as I don't like saying this, Zach really needs to step up to the plate and put his foot down. Her family is falling apart at the seams, and all Kendall can worry about is being a pitbull for an ex? Get your priorities straight!

Right now, truthfully, I wouldn't mind Frankie going away forever. Cornelius Smith Jr. doesn't seem invested in his role anymore and the character is grating on my last nerve. He and Randi should ride off into the sunset never to be seen or heard from again.

Jesse's big confession of a long-ago love was a major letdown. I hope The Powers That Be have something grand in store for this storyline or it may well go down as one of the worst ever.

Turning a positive corner, I'm absolutely in love with Taylor. Could an Amanda, Jake, Taylor triangle be in the works? While that could prove interesting, when this initial war story is done, I think I'd like to see Taylor brought into Tad's orbit. Taylor battling it out with Krystal for Tad's affections could be can't miss. Imagine if supposedly dead fiancee Brot was thrown into the mix.

As you've probably heard by now, Amanda Baker and her altar Babe Carey will soon leave Pine Valley. I can't say I'm sad to see them go. While I adored the character when portrayed by Alexa Havins, Ms. Baker's stiff take on her never won me over. A bad recast to say the least.

Rockin' The Do!

What's that sound I hear? Ah, yes, my mother screaming in horror all the way from Fairhaven. :) Okay, so I couldn't stand the mess I made last week, and did my best to erase all memory of it. I'm actually very happy with the way it turned out, and think I'll be keeping it for a while. The cool thing about it is that I didn't use the whole bottle. So, if I decide to, I can dye it again without spending anymore money. No matter what anyone else may say, I'm happy with it, and that's good enough.

Baker OUT... Babe GONE!

I've just received confirmation that Amanda Baker is indeed out at All My Children. After weeks of speculation, (and hoping), this announcement should come as no surprise. No word yet on how the character of Babe will be ushered off canvas. Though it's just an assumption on my end, I would think the exit will coincide with the tornado that devastates Pine Valley.

WinxMix Volume 9

After listening several times, I'm not that impressed. Songs like Bust A Move and Change The World seem completely out of place. Song order is off as well. The easy in and out flow that I've come to prefer is missing almost entirely. The ninth volume in the series does have some amazing songs to balance out its lackluster elements. Among them are standouts Life Story, Hands To Heaven, and Dance With My Father. Truth be told, I think this volume is one of my least favorites.

'Tis The Season... For Colds And Allergies!

I felt it all coming on the other day and knew I was in trouble. By the time yesterday rolled around, I was suffering from uncontrollable projectile sneezing and a major headache. Unfortunately, due to this nastiness, I was forced to miss school today. It's not even that I feel all that bad. The problem is my inability to protect my classmates from the aforementioned projectiles. I've left a message with my teacher explaining the situation. I hope he understands and that we can come to some sort of terms regarding absences. If the reason for me not being able to attend is beyond my control, I don't think I should be penalized. Hopefully, he'll agree.

Rockin' The Do!

Bored with my hair again last night, I decided to go to Walgreens and see if they had any interesting dyes. I've been wanting platinum hair for a while, and the box I chose falsely promised it to me. During the whole process, it looked as though I was going to get the desired outcome. Then, we started rinsing and washing. This isn't what I wanted at all, but isn't horrible all the same. In a couple of weeks, after it grows out, I'm going to go to a legit beauty supply store and get bleach. Opinions, anyone?

Happy Birthday, Mom!

When I called my sister to see if we were planning anything for mom's birthday, she said that a combined celebration with William was what she had in mind. While I'm sure mom wouldn't care, I thought she should have a special day of her own. I also decided to take charge of the cake this year. Lemon with cream cheese frosting and peanut butter M & M lettering.

We sang happy birthday, and Harry help blow the candles out. I hope she had a good day, as she is the best mom anyone could wish for. She deserves all good that comes her way, and a lifetime of happiness!

New Picture Of Zelda!

Adorable, isn't she? Would be even more so without those glowing demon eyes. :)

All My Amnesiacs?

I'm getting concerned. It seems as though the residents of our beloved valley are having issues with memory loss. Ryan and Greenlee were beyond nauseating this week. Ryan's proclamation that Greenlee is his one and only true love is laughable. Does he not remember Hungarian Princess Gillian? Likewise, Greenlee's claim that Aidan completes her makes me taste bile in the back of my throat. Nobody except Leo ever loved her unconditionally. People given headwriting positions should really be made to brush up on history before crafting a story.

All right, I wasn't going to go off on a big tangent, but I can't help myself. The way in which Ryan handled breaking the news of Annie's miscarriage to Emma was stupid beyond any reasoning. The dialogue accompanying the scene was even worse. Ryan tells his five year old daughter that their going to plant a tree in memory of a dead fetus in the park and that everytime she plays near it, she can think of her would-be sibling. Let me stress again people, FIVE YEARS OLD! What member of the writing team came up with this brilliant gem? Thinking about it makes my head ache.

I'm really beginning to dislike Jesse. This is unfortunate because I think Darnell Williams is such an amazing actor. The way that Jesse talked to Angie this week was bordering on abuse. Angie has every right to be curious/suspicious about what happened in her husband's life the twenty years he was missing. From what I hear is coming down the pike, Jesse would do best to confess everything now.

Erica and Adam are absolute gold. Their date was amazing. Everything from comedy to snarking to tender moments. I hope this couple is explored to their fullest potential. A special shoutout this week to Elizabeth Rodriguez. Her performance was one for the ages. I know there's more to cover but I'm starting to nod off. Will try my best to catch up in the next post.
