First Impressions…

Just finished watching the first episode under the new regime. What jumped out at me right away? The signature Carlivati humor is on front and center display. Definitely one of the major things I was hoping for, and I'm glad to see it so quickly. Next, I noticed that the dialogue seems tighter. So great not to waste words. Lastly, with few exceptions, I've never really enjoyed the acting on Days. It seems to have improved. This could be me imagining, but I feel like everyone stepped up their game. While you should bring your best no matter what, it does help when material is quality. I'll wait a bit to comment on story, as there is quite a mess to be cleaned up. Don't want to judge until Ron and his team really get to sink their teeth in. Though it's early, I like what I see.

Here's a quote from an interview that Ron did with Soap Opera Digest. Sounds very promising.

"There will be focus on the vets, because I love writing for vets. I came in with a goal at the beginning to not bring in anybody new, to write for the people I had, so you'll see at the outset and for several months that there's some familiar faces returning, but nobody new."

Only a few more days until Days begins its journey out of the darkness.

Mimi Imfurst is gone! Thank goodness! There was an air of negativity about her from the moment she walked into the workroom. She couldn't take criticism, and did not play well with the other queens. While her makeup was always on point, outfits were severely lacking. Above all, I can't stand someone who comes into a situation thinking they're the shit, before building a track record. Never be overconfident, or let your ego get in the way. The rest of season three is going to be more enjoyable with her gone.

Big Return!

Michael Sutton is reprising Stone Cates this August. While I'm not terribly familiar with the character, I know that he succumbed to AIDS in the 90s, in a groundbreaking story. Before anyone gets angry, he is not coming back alive. Apparently, he returns to help Sonny through a major crisis. You all know how I feel about Sonny, so I don't particularly care what he's dealing with. My dream storyline? Sonny dies, and Stone is there to help him cross over. That would be amazing!

Tim, Jamie, and I went to see EVOLVE on June 26th! Such an awesome show! Got to meet Matt Riddle, and Zack Sabre Jr. So cool!

So, Tyra won the second season. Not happy. Could not stand her. Quite honestly, I didn't really care for any of the girls. Same as last time; no real emotional attachment. Hoping to fall in love with someone on season three.

I Don't Understand…

Watching old episodes of All My Children before sleep. I love this show so much. One random episode, and I am entranced, as if watching it for the first time. The writing, acting, and storytelling is brilliant. I don't understand how, after fighting for over a year, ABC has regained the rights to this brilliant show, and is doing absolutely nothing with it. It is truly shameful. Loyal fans deserve to say a proper goodbye to their Pine Valley friends. I hope, someday, we all get the chance.

I can't believe I did this again, I'm so sorry. Don't know why I always forget to post DOOL news. Ron Carlivati has announced that his material will begin airing July 19th. So cool. I'm going to tune in a couple of days before, to see if I notice any immediate difference. Should be fun!

Say goodbye to William DeVry. The popular actor, and his character, Julian are bidding farewell to Port Charles. Apparently, contract negotiations broke down after he refused to accept a take it or leave it offer. I've never been a big Julian fan, but this is a mistake. In the current environment, with daytime dramas hanging on for dear life, I would not risk losing the biggest fanbase keeping my show above water. My mother always taught me not to put all my eggs in one basket. Especially when it has proven to throw tantrums, be disloyal, demand an exorbitant amount of money to underperform, and refuse to commit. I hope it's all worth it a year from now.
