It's been a long time since last I posted and I have tons of opinions, thoughts, and predictions to share.
As always, I will begin this post by discussing the Maria situation. Even though I believe I am in the minority of viewers with the way I've been feeling lately, I am extremely happy with the progression and twists this storyline has recently taken on. Although I am not particularly fond of Aiden, I am somewhat enjoying the almost complexity and confusion of his situation. As always however, I am a major fan of Eva LaRue and her original character of Maria. I am sincerely hoping that a storyline climax and possible end for the upcoming sweeps is the complete return of Maria's memory.
On a similar subject but going down a different path, Julia's all-to-brief return. I enjoyed it immensely and hope the new year brings more of the same excellent quality. However, there is always a downside to counteract every good. Firstly, Julia returning only days after the departure of her brother and his wife is utterly ridiculous. Next, the fact that The Powers That Be at All My Children and actress Sydney Penny were unable to reach a deal to extend her stay is extremely upsetting. I can only continue to hope that Julia Santos will be able to return in a more permanent fashion in the near future.
Moving on, the teen scene. In recent weeks and months, All My Children has brought Pine Valley's teens to the show's forefront. New faces such as Lori, Joni, and the newest recast of JR have been featured more than they should lately. As a long-time viewer, I understand the importance of the introduction of new characters in the summer months and at other specific points in the year to draw in a new audience. However, summer has come and gone and the focus of the show still remains on the juvenile residents of PV. I believe that if the writers and creators of the show ever want it to recapture its glory days, the direction in which it is going must seriously be evaluated. I am not however suggesting that the younger population of Pine Valley be ignored completely. I, like most other viewers, don't mind the younger crowd in moderation.
Ending, I would like to discuss the new characters on their way to town. Personally, as sort of previously stated, I believe that there are too many new characters on the show already and it is absolutely unnecessary to introduce more. I am in no way interested to see the development of these characters or feel involved in their lives. However, as the year, the storylines, and the show continue to progress, my opinion on this matter is likely to change.
Lastly, I must congratulate All My Children on their recent decision to release J. Eddie Peck from his contract. As Jake Martin, in my opinion, Mr. Peck was never quite believable. I am hopeful that the recast of this character will bring about a much-needed change and possibly bring him in a new direction.
As I said in my last post a few months back, I will share more thoughts and opinions when afforded the time. I sincerely appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to read this post and am looking forward to responses.
